The Nation panel contains information and options that are useful in managing your nation.

The Nation panel.

Nation Information

In the upper left corner of the Nation panel, various information about your nation is displayed.

Below the nation's name is the nation's level. The level is a measure of the nation's power and technological achievement; each time the nation advances a level it gains a new technology that it has researched. The nation's level is determined by the number of points the nation has earned — each level takes a greater number of points to achieve than the previous level took. The Nation panel displays both the nation's current number of points, and the number of points remaining to achieve the next level.

Below these is displayed the number of points gained from agriculture each day, and the nation's area and supportable area. The larger a nation is in area, and the better its geographic efficiency, the more points the nation will receive daily from agriculture. Having a large area can also help a nation improve its geographic efficiency, so long as its shape is not very irregular, and so long as its area does not exceed its supportable area. If the number representing your current land area turns yellow, this indicates that you are over your supportable limit, and your geographic efficiency will suffer. Note that a nation will receive no points from agriculture if no member has logged in to that nation for at least 24 hours.

Next shown is the nation's number of republics, and its current number of supportable republics. The number of republics that make up a nation is the number of original nations that have united with this nation, either directly or by first uniting into another nation that later united into this nation. A new nation starts out as a single republic, and can support up to 3 republics. As a nation's level and age increase, the number of republics that can be supported by that nation also increases.

Following this is displayed the nation's countdown to rebirth. This number begins at 1000, and when it reaches zero the nation will be reborn as a stone age society, and given a wealth of game credits and a fraction of its former points to start it on its way again. This countdown begins ticking away when the nation has exceeded level 100; each day the count is decreased by one for each level the nation has achieved beyond 100. After the nation has reached level 200, the countdown begins to decrease even faster than this. The countdown is also lowered when the nation wins prize money; it decreases by two for each dollar won. The countdown can only be increased by purchasing credits or by returning prize money to receive credits; the countdown is increased by five for each dollar of money spent on purchasing credits, and by three for each dollar of prize winnings returned for credits. The countdown to rebirth is necessary to keep the game from being dominated by hundreds of super powerful nations... and it gives the added challenge of winning as much prize money as possible before the time has come for your nation to start fresh.

Next is the number of fortification points that the nation currently has, and the number that are renewed every day. A nation gains fortification points by researching or purchasing various technologies, and may spend these points to build protective fortifications.

Beneath this is displayed the number of fortifications your nation currently has on the map, and the number of fortifications that your nation can support at one time. The number of supportable forts is based on your nation's level and area. If your nation has more forts than it can support, some of your fortifications will slowly decay over time until your number of forts no longer exceeds the number that you can support. The number of Fortifications Built will turn yellow, to indicate you have exceeded your supportable limit.

For more information about points and levels, see the sections on attacking and playing. For more information about fortification points, see the section on fortification.

Logging out

In the upper right corner of the Nation panel is the "Log Out" button. Press this button to return to the Log In screen, so that you can create a new user account or nation, or log in as a different user. If you wish to exit War of Conquest altogether, click on the close button in the upper right corner of the window.

Changing the Game Settings

Below the Log Out button is the "Settings" button. Press this button to bring up the Game Settings Panel. From this panel you can choose whether or not to hear in-game sound effects. You can also choose whether to see few or many nation names in the map view. Seeing many nation names can be useful, but can also slow the game down and obstruct the view of the map. Next, you can choose whether the Tips window will be displayed when you log in to the game. Below this, you can choose whether the game documentation files that are brought up in a web browser (when you ask for information about any part of the game) are your own local files from your hard drive, or the online versions. Local files can usually be accessed more quickly, but some platforms may not be able to display local files in a browser. Finally, you can choose whether you'd prefer to purchase credits using PayPal or StormPay.

Migrating

On the right side of the Nation Panel is the "Migrate" button. Press this button if you wish to have your nation abandon all of its land and be placed randomly in the area of the world that you are looking at in your map view when you choose to migrate. Migrating can be useful if a nation is trapped or stranded, or located in an undesirable section of the game world. This option is only open to a nation's sovereign or cosovereign, and can only be ordered once per day.

Premium Features

War of Conquest's Premium Features include Map Flags, Messages, and a log of the nation's History. While not necessary to play the game and succeed at it, these features are both useful and convenient. When a new nation is created, it has access to these Premium Features during a 3 day trial period. After this time the nation can activate these features permanently by spending 300 credits. The nation can also activate the Premium Features by making a single credit purchase of at least $20 - in that case the Premium Features come free, and the nation keeps all of the credits it purchased.

Map Flags allow you to easily note important locations in the game world, and return your map view to those locations with a single mouse click. Press the Map Flags button to activate the Map Flags Panel. See the section on Map Flags for more information.

Messages are useful for communicating with players who are not online while you're online. You can post messages for other members of your nation to read, and you can even even post messages to other nations. Press the Messages button to activate the Messages Panel. If your nation has received new messages that you haven't read yet, the red indicator light beside this button will be lit. See the section on Messages for more information.

A nation's History is a record of each of the most important changes that have taken place for the nation over the past seven days. If you suspect that one of your nation's members has been sabotaging the nation in some way, the History is a good first place to look. For more information see the section on History.

Counter-Attack Weapon Menu

Below the nation information is the counter-attack weapon menu. Use this menu to choose which weapon your nation's forces will primarily be using when counter-attacking enemy nations that have attacked your nation. Choose a counter-attack weapon that is most appropriate to the nations that you expect will be attacking you the most destructively. For more information about choosing weapons, see the section on attacking.

Counter Invade option

Beside the counter-attack weapon menu is a checkbox allowing you to choose whether or not your nation will invade enemy land after succeeding in a counter attack. If this option is not selected, then a successful counter-attack will repel your enemy without resulting in an occupation of the enemy's former land by your nation.

Password for Joining

When you first create your nation, you choose a password that a player must know if they want to join your nation. You can change that password at any time by entering a new password in the Nation panel's Password for Joining field, and then pressing the "Change" button. It's important that you choose a password that is difficult to guess, so that no enemy player can infiltrate and sabotage your nation.
